<自己紹介>

Hello everyone! My name is Maria, I am 21 years old and I come from Cyprus. I am excited to start my internship in Tokyo with Tiger Mov and contribute to the company as much as I can!

I have a BSc in Business Management and this September I will start my Master’s in Human Resource Management.

I am also interested in communications, strategy planning and development of business procedures. Ever since I remember myself, I wanted to major in business, because the thought of being part of a team and inspiring them to move forward to achieve the company’s goals seemed appealing to me.

Through my studies and part-time work I also became aware of the hardships of running a business; you have to be agile, ready to adapt and solve problems. At the same time, companies need leaders that can help them move forward and show the light at the edge of the tunnel. For this reason, it is very inspiring for me to do my internship with Tiger Mov, as their vision is to develop the next generation’s leaders.

To illustrate better my career goals, I would like to describe a project I completed, along with some other general information about my career interests.

The project was part of my Management Information Systems course. I worked as part of a team and we had to develop a procedure for the University radio station. Our task was to make the students more interested in the University’s radio by creating a supporting app where students could send articles and share their thoughts.

To complete this project we had to design the procedure and after that we also designed the app using Adobe XD. I really liked this project because we had to come up with a clear solution, design an app and present our app to the rest of the students. In addition, I like strategy planning, understanding the clients profile and trying to create or develop a service to serve them better.

Last but not least, I am very interested in Human Resource (HR) Management. How can a company achieve a competitive advantage through its people? I would like to create procedures that help employees feel happier at work as a way to become more productive. Moreover, how can a company attract the best employees and after that, how can the company develop them, motivate them and support them in their journeys? All of the above help paint the picture of my career interests.

Now – why did I choose Japan for my internship?

There are a lot of reasons. I first became aware of Japan when I started watching anime in middle school. Then, while at University I had the chance study Japan through many business case studies. Since I wanted to visit Japan and especially Tokyo for a long of time, I decided to choose Tokyo as the destination of my summer internship. This way, I can experience this city as a local and at the same time grow both as a person and professionally through my internship in this metropolitan city.

Tiger Mov will help me develop my professional skills and become a more diverse and experienced person. As mentioned above, I want to contribute as much as I can to Tiger Mov; I wish to help with Business Development and maybe even help expand to Cyprus.

In the future, I will have completed my MSc in Human Resource Management degree, and I imagine myself working with a consulting/advisory company as an HR consultant in Cyprus. This way I will have the opportunity to explore many different industries and find which part of HR I like the most and specialise in that. This is due to the fact that HR is very vast; from recruiting and developing employees to strategy planning.

In addition, since I really like Japan, I would like to develop some kind of business relationship with Japan. For example, maybe working at a Cypriot company that has clients in Japan? This way I would have the chance to travel to Japan back and forth. I also like the academic aspect of Business and HR so I might pursue a PhD and maybe 10 years in the future I can also become a lecturer in University. I get excited when thinking about the infinite opportunities the future holds – there’s so many things to explore and experience.

For now, I am looking forward to my internship with Tiger Mov and I can’t wait to see what the future has to offer.

Maria

よろしく お願いします
